RECAP OF PROJECT SCOPE
The project scope defined by the community during the Public Outreach of the Master Planning, Phase 1 includes the following amenities:


  • Entrance plaza to the park from Jason Crandall Drive (aka Tierra Flores Drive)
  • Community center
  • Indoor competition-ready 50-meter pool
  • Indoor warm-up cool-down multi-purpose and therapeutic pool
  • Outdoor recreation pool - aquatic center
  • Splash pad & Playground area
  • Internal roadways, parking areas, and bus stop
  • Rental event pavilion and landscaping
  • Public art spots
  • Walking path 


Phase 1's Natatorium will house a 50-Meter competition-ready pool with all the required amenities to be able to have regional meets at this facility including spectator seating for 800 spectators and sufficient pool deck area for 400 competitors, warm-up and cool-down pool, office, trainer rooms, locker areas, public restroom facilities, pool equipment room, janitor's closet, storage, IT rooms and other support rooms.

Phase 1's Recreation Pool (Aquatic Center) area will consist of an outdoor pool with water slides/tube slides, a climbing wall, lazy river, splash pads, and other water amenities including family picnic areas and other shaded areas.


The third major component of Phase 1 is the Community Center. This multi-generational center will cater to both families and seniors for recreation and indoor sports.

 

PHASE 1 DESIGN PHASE
The design of Phase 1 for the 92-acre park will focus on the design of the buildings and associated infrastructure of the park. The project LEED goals are Silver certification for the Natatorium and Community Center.

On March 22nd, 2016, El Paso City Council awarded a design contract to Perkins+Will for the first phase of the Eastside Regional Park. The design for Phase 1 was completed on April, 2018 and is in the process of final design refinements and permitting process.

During the development of the design, some modifications have been incorporated as well as areas have been expanded as follows:

  • Outdoor Recreation Pool scope has been expanded to be one of the Regional Aquatic Parks – this park will have Family Pool, Children’s Pool, Lazy River, Tube slides, FlowRider, 19’ climbing walls, Concession Area, Shaded areas, LED music-coordinated lighting, among other amenities.


  • The Community Center scope has been expanded to include Senior Center amenities like library, multi-purpose rooms, catering kitchen, offices, training rooms, an expanded fitness area, indoor running track, classrooms, indoor basketball courts, restrooms, and storage areas.
